About Cody Ellingham

Cody Ellingham (b. 1991) is a photographer and nightcrawler best known for his ongoing project, DERIVE, exploring the world’s nocturnal cities.

His passion for exploration started in New Zealand where he grew up roaming the mountains and countryside of his hometown, but it was in 2016 at night in the cyberpunk megacity of Tokyo where his art first found form.

Ellingham has worked as a commercial art director and photographer for a range of projects from Tokyo to Shanghai over the last four years, including multi-media photogrammetry installations for Future Cities.

Ellingham has created a prolific body of work in his emerging career. His first photobook, DANCHI DREAMS, was successfully crowd-funded over 250% and published in 2018 to a global audience, and he is currently working on his second photobook: BANGKOK PHOSPHORS.

Ellingham’s work has been featured by CityLab by the Atlantic, The Guardian, and Wired, and others (see Press).
